The latest incarnation in the Luxe lightweight series of teepee style tents which offer numerous options in configuration for more than one person.

There are so many options with this shelter that the forthcoming video will hopefully explain just how flexible it is.

However out of the box, we have the shelter and the inner which will easily sleep 4 adults over 6 foot.

There are two doors and vestibules which will help with air flow and storage. Certainly big enough for rucksacks and kit storage.

The floor space is huge and there is certainly room to move about when sheltering away from the weather.

As a shelter only tarp tent, you could almost hold a party in there. Ideal for families, small groups, kayaking, bushcraft and so on.

As the photos show. You can actually fit one or two V4 Hex Peak Inners inside too. Which then would give you more variety and space of course depending on your needs.

The latest option is a Double Inner, which would then leave you the other half of the tent for storage and cooking.

The packed size is good too. Certainly ideal for motorcycle tourers and possibly a group of cyclists sharing.

It comes with 8 long pegs for the base of the shelter which needs a further 7 for the additional adjusters in the centre of each panel. Or you could use them for the guying out points half way up the sides. However the additional 3mm cord needed is not supplied so that is something to take into account. I would suggest a 30m pack.

The pole options are numerous. The 197X Pole will support the shelter easily for average 3 season use, however under tension the pole will flex slightly. This is why the heavier 231X pole is offered if you intend to tension all the guys and erect the shelter in heavy weather.

If the consideration is to be lighter then I have tried it with 2 walking poles linked together and this works fine, strong and stable. However once again it will flex when under heavy tension.

All in all I think this offers users a fantastic super stable shelter for a whole variety of uses. It is supplied with seam sealer and instructions as to where to apply it, if needed.

One additional comment would be to purchase an additional storage bag to split the inner and the outer. The fit of the main back is too tight to make life easy.

  • Top tips for a stable shelter in all weathers

If the supporting pole sinks at any stage the material will lose all the tension and the tent can become unstable in high winds, with the possibility of the pole moving. The common tip here is to cut a tennis ball in half and use each half at either end of the pole. It prevents the pole from sinking and also reduces the pressure on the peak. Once this is in place, applying tension on all the surrounding guys will maintain tension throughout the night. Some use Marmite caps or Rebar Mushrooms.

In excessive wet weather we have had occasional reports of the supplied guys slipping in the cleats.
