I recently received my first order from you (a candle lantern neoprene case,
reflector and a pooh trowel), and I was very pleasantly surprised to find
a handwritten note wishing me a "Happy New Year" and a packet
of jelly babies (which my son snaffled). I was further surprised to receive
a follow-up 'phone call asking me if all was well! What excellent customer
service!
I shall (a) order kit from you again and (b) recommend you to as many people

I bought a Shangri-La 3 from you earlier in the year and want to say what
a brilliant buy it's turned out to be. It's been used in a winter gale on
the North Pennines, in Lakeland rain canoe camping on coniston and in sub
zero conditions in Scotland over the last weekend. First class performance
every time. The half hex groundsheet has been a great advantage.
I've been singing its praise ever since its first use and I've not hesitated
to direct friends towards your site - hope it's produced some sales for

After seeing a review on an American review site, I recently ordered a White
Box stove from you, which arrived yesterday. I can't wait to try it. I just
wanted to write, however, to say thanks for the great service.
I order alot of stuff on the Web, and it's easy to get blase about fast
turnaround, competitive pricing, etc., but it was unusual also to receive
a short personal note and a packet of sweeties(how did you know Skittles
Sours were my favourite, by the way?!)
It's been a pleasure doing business with you, and small things like this
really make a difference and set you apart from the rest. By the way, my
boss saw me opening the package and really liked the stove. Expect another

Just a quick note to say thanks for the order. Tried the honey stove and
white box cooker out at the weekend and very impressed. I showed my scouts
on Monday as we where doing light weight stoves and what the options where
and your products where voted better than the trangia and highland stoves
that we had, although the gas came out tops for ease of use. A couple where
so impressed with the honey stove you might even have a few more orders!

Just wanted to say what a great job your doing. Most recently I received
your hammock and tarp dvd. You seem to manage to source some great kit,
obviously based on practical experience, and the fact you can source so
much british kit is brilliant.
The dvd and videos bob does are so informative yet simple, they are perfect
for some one like me, who has a hopeless memory and likes things to be kept
easy. Who wants to be wrestling with gear all the time when they could be
doing something much more fun.
Out of interest what sort of activities do you actually do outdoors, would
be good to know a little bit more about your backgrounds. Personally I mostly
enjoy climbing and walking.
I also noticed in the dvd the use of an alpkit walking pole. It's good to
know that two of my favourite companies are fully compatible :) Thanks again,

your big sale of the week! I actually really appreciated being able to source
these items that I've not seen elsewhere before.
They arrived today unexpectedly quickly following my order. It was great
to get a pack of skittles inside (who's missing a pack from their packed
lunch?) and especially Rose's advice about using the spoon for ice crean
sundaes. Don't come across these much out in the wilds, but maybe it will

the heat shrink peg sleeving not for covering titanium tent pegs as suggested
but to cover the handles of a MSR Titan kettle - works a treat. I will certainly

I would like to write a short note on how impressed I am with the service
I recived on this order. First off the order was processed extreamly fast
considering I placed my order on Good friday and it arrived this morning
I wasnt expecting it to arrive until this friday. The first thing I noticed
when I opened the box was the pack of M&M's along with the backpacking
light packing slip. On the front of the packing slip was a note that said

recent order for a Honey Stove.
My order was placed and I was notified by your website as it progressed
along the chain or picking, packing and despatch etc, and when it arrived
I was delighted to see those nice extra touches that you had put into the
package. Firstly the packet of Skittles was a real treat! My daughter took
them from me straight away but I was happy as she was delighted to have
received an item through the post!
Next the CD of your podcasts. I was introduced to your website because of
the work that I am doing for A-Z Bushcraft, and when I saw them mention
you on twitter I looked at your site and have signed up to your podcasts.
As you suggested I have passed the CD on to another friend and I know that

tried loads of different tarps over the years but this is without doubt
the best that i have come accross. ideal for two people on a long trip.
we tried different configurations including a free standing A frame and
it coped very well even when it got windy. the cd that came with it was
very good (although we all do things differantly), i will be recommending

a given your service is great; the products are very good and the after
sales (up to and including a packet of sweeties and a phone call) are beyond
the call of duty. What I really want to thank you for is making Internet

Hi, a little feedback on my recent purchase of a GoLite Shangrila 3. The
tent was fine (but I expected that), what really impressed me though was
when I phoned to make some enquiries about the tent I was greeted with some
extremely helpful and friendly advice (after 30 years of outdoor life I've
come to know when I'm being given good advice by someone knowledgable or
just being given the "hard-sell"). My next supprise was a couple
of little extras thrown in whith the delivery (many thanks from the boys!),
and then I recieved a phone call to make sure everything was alright!. Really
pleased with the service and I will be reccomending Backpackinglight to
anyone looking for outdoor equipment in future. I'll let you know how I

I have a pair of the normal extendable UCO's but the addition of the smaller

Travelling back to Kidderminster from York I usually listen to the Archers
at 7:00pm, tonight I was so engrosed in listening to the CD I completely

I order 1 x White box alcohol stove, which not only came in a very short
time, but BPL kindly added a Podcast CD-rom & then PHONED me a couple

got a solo tarp in June for my birthday but didn't get chance to use it
until a couple of weeks ago. My 8yr old was keen to spend a night out after
we'd been up Pen y Ghent - the forecast was light rain but dry after midnight
so we went for it. Pitched against the car, I appreciate not really in the
true spirit of tarping, with two sides pegged down and the 4th corner lifted
up to the bike rack it kept us both dry despite TORRENTIAL rain. I was in
a Rab bivvy on the open side, we put down a groundsheet which actually was
almost our undoing as rain pooled and ran under our mats but we got away
with it. In the morning he valley was flooded! (It was the night an underpass
in Belfast had flooded to 20ft) We were chuffed to bits!
I'd be very confident about using the tarp in a much wilder location now
and would welcome the extra space alone. Thanks for a great product. Paul

and trousers I got a follow-up call from the team to check I had my gear
and was happy with it. One minor fault was mentioned with the trousers -

your site via a Google search for podcasts covering the topic of backpacking.
After listening to nearly 47 of your podcasts, yes I am hooked, I described
your podcasts as the "Jackpot" to my group of friends who share
my interest in backpacking and podcasting.
I have learned a lot by listening to the very informative podcasts and I
just want to say 'Job well done!' After listening to several of your guests
speak about lightweight backpacking I went through my pack and reduced it's
weight by 33 pounds! I just returned from a two day hike for which I had
two goals. The first of which was to "minimize weight and maximize
fun" and the second was to convince my friends that reducing pack weight
works! I achieved both goals and my friends could not believe I got along
just fine and with my pack weighing in at less than half the weight as theirs!
You have introduced me to the benefits of going light and for that I am

Thank you for my recent order of sub zero base layer tops which arrived
promptly. I wore the Factor One at the weekend doing some hill climbing
& treking in my Scottish Mountain backyard (how lucky am i) . Bright

This is getting serious, I am becoming afflicted with ideas of Lightweight.
Cameron McNeish is not helping matters with his articles in TGO. Now he
is talking about French lighweight sleeping bags and a tempting rucksack,
the Mcsac. You stock some of the OMM sacs but not that one. I must book

Thanks for the excellent interview series – it serves as an amazing
source of inspiration to me. I listen to shows not just when out when pounding
the pavements during the long damp winter nights, but also during long commutes
for work.
It’s invaluable during that otherwise “wasted training”
time sat in my car. At least I feel as though I am getting some training
done; even though it is mental.
We are currently training for the Polar Challenge; a 340 mile ski race to
the Magnetic North Pole. Stages of this will be mind-numbingly monotonous,
so we will be taking mp3 players to keep us stimulated – you can bet
that several of your interviews will be on there to keep the motivation
going.
As soon as we’ve finished this we will be back in training for the
