We have now firmly established the Wigan Food and Drink Festival in the local and regional calendar. The festival in 2010 will be one of the largest Food and Drink Festivals in the North West of England.

Chester Food and Drink Festival has received an exciting makeover and as of 2010, the festival will be called, Chester Food, Drink and Lifestyle Festival. The new festival still features all of the wonderful food and drink stalls but will now appeal to an even wider audience by introducing a lifestyle show and camper van event to its line up.

British Asparagus Festival

23rd April to 21st June

The British Asparagus Festival in the Vale of Evesham has been announced as Regional winners in the Visit England "Where Else But England Awards" which recognises and celebrates the most eccentric events throughout the UK.

We were joint winners with Festival at The Edge and beat other events such as Shakespears Birthday Celebrations; the Wenlock Olympics and the Thomas Veil Horse Grand National to name just a few

The Asparagus Festival would like to save a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who voted for us - we will now take on the rest of the UK at the England for Excellence Awards Final in Brighton on St Georges Day

Ever considered joining the Long Distance Walkers Association?

Aim: to further the interests of those who enjoy long distance walking

Since its formation in 1972 (founders Chris Steer and Alan Blatchford) the LDWA has grown steadily from 355 members to 6,500 (approx.) at present. That growth, recognition in 1985 as the Governing Body for Long Distance Walking and becoming a Company Limited by Guarantee in 1999 have not prevented the LDWA retaining the feeling of a family of diverse individuals united by a common interest in long distance walking.

The Backpackers Club

The Backpackers Club is for anybody who enjoys lightweight camping. The aim of the club is to promote and encourage backpacking for the benefit of its members.

No formal definition of 'Backpacking' exists, but perhaps a good description would be the art of being self contained, carrying everything you need to survive in the outdoors such as a tent, sleeping bag and food etc. whilst walking/cycling from one location to another on a multi-day journey through a natural landscape.
