Tyvek is the original non-woven technology from DuPont. Tyvek is made from high density polyethylene (HDPE) an water resistant, breathable, strong, tear resistant and long lasting.
Lightweight and durable, Tyvek offers extra protection as a tent footprint or can be used as a groundsheet. However it is only sold as water resistant and not waterproof.
Certainly it is light and very durable. I've found this material initially has a slippy smooth surface, but after a few uses, it softens up and loses its stiff characteristics.
If you need extra protection either underneath your shelter or maybe as an extra tarp, then well worth considering.
Both Tyveks groundsheets have four corner tabs for pegging out.
Certainly my experience so far indicates that it is suitable for both uses.
